YOUNG farmers from Tenbury raised nearly £12,000 for charity when they rode quad bikes from one end of the country to the other.

Worcestershire Young Farmers rode from John O’Groats to Lands End on two quad bikes.

The journey last April took six days. It was the idea of county chairman Tom Goodwin who wanted to raise money for Diabetes UK and Acorns Children's Hospice.

One of the members who did the whole of the journey was Dean Sinnett, a member of Tenbury Wells Young Farmers.

The quad bikes were supplied by Nomark Equip who are Yamaha Agents based in Burford, near Tenbury Wells.

Yamaha also provided all the safety clothing used by the riders.

The bikes were road legal machines and had proper road tyres fitted instead of the normal off road ones found on most other quad bikes.

Mark and Anne Yarnold from Nomark Equip were at the Young Farmers AGM in Torquay the day after the epic journey.

They greeted the team as they rode through the tourist destination to the convention centre where other young farmers groups had gathered.

Now that all the money has been been collected and counted it can be revealed that they raised £11,400 which was split between Diabetes UK and Acorns Children's Hospice.
